CROCHETING IS MAD CONFUSING PLZ HELP?

i bought some yarn and a 9mm needle i wanna make a beanie or a dread tam but every vid i find is mad fast and all the patterns are confusing does anyone know a simple way for me to learn how to make hats??????? it cant really be that hard right ??

if you know the basic stitches of crocheting you can do this. follow me: make a ring and put as many dc's in the ring as you can fit.

sl st at the top of the first st. that will be row 1.

in row 2, increase (inc) your stitches by putting 2 dc's in each st.

repeat row 2 until you get your circle (crown of hat) the size you want it to be. when you get it the size you want it to be, just keep crocheting around until you get the hat the size and depth you want it to be.

if the hat is too wide and too big for you head start to decrease (dec) your stitches evenly, e.g. one st dec, then dc, dec, dc, etc.

note: if that is too much dec, then repeat the dec like every 5 or 10 sts. if it's still not your size, undo it and try another combo of inc or dec. hope this helps some.

if you don't know the lingo and abbreviations for the stitches, learn them. it will make crocheting much more fun and easier. here is a good start. http://www.ehow.com/how_2275359_read-crochet-abbreviations.html
