How would you respond to a hand-knit gift?
If someone knit you a gift- a scarf, hat, sweater, what have you... using high quality wool yarn, would you really appreciate it? Is it worth a knitter's time and money to knit something for someone who doesn't know how much work or expense went into it? As a knitter- should I bother knitting gifts for people, or will they not appreciate them or care enough to wash them properly? Should I just knit for myself and my immediate family, or do you think people really truly appreciate quality handmade items?
I'm a knitter, too, so I completely understand why you posted this question. I've learned only to knit things for people who will really appreciate the time, effort, and money that went into these gifts. Only a knitter can truly appreciate a gift that someone else knitted!
