What size Bamboo Steamer should I get for a 14" wok?
Hello!
Does it matter what size I get? Someone once said I need a 8 inch... does that steamer hold alot of food? Enough for two people? (if I put rice in it, or dumplings, or vegetables) Or is that size only meant for one person? And do I need to buy a wire rack to set it on, or can I just put it straight into the wok?
Also, If I get a metal ring to put the bamboo steamer on top of a large pot, does it matter how much water is boiling in the pot? Can I just dump some water in and start? Or does it have to be at least 6 inches or 8 inches, etc.

I found a small pot the best for steaming. No metal ring was req'd. Measure the diameter of your pots and buy the right size steamer. Mine is about 7 1/2 inches and makes enough food for one person. That's not a big deal since most food is cooked in 3-5 minutes in a steamer.
When I steam, I put about an inch of water on the bottom, boil the water and check the level and the food after 5 minutes. If you put too much water in the pot, it can boil over and make your food soggy. Place your pot lid on top of the steamer when you are boiling the water.
