design / sew your own clothes?
I watched Project Runway and got to thinking about sewing some of my own outfits .. Course since I am not known I'm going to use a template, can someone tell me if it would be extremely difficult. and advice would be greatly appreciated!
I am a designer because I love clothes and desided to take some classes to make my own drawings, I used to make clothes and sell them a few years ago, nothing serious, just good fun, good ... I finished school and decided to pursue my career engineering, but clothing is my passion! A simple way to start making your clothing is through models, go to your local store and check their models leading magazines and choose the models you want, take your measurements and match the size with the model, they have tons and tons of models easy to follow. They also perform several tissues and you may be able to find a cute ones there, otherwise Check in your yellow pages for fabric stores, always check the fabric of the first sale for a good price. In fact, the pattern instructions give you the amount fabric you need. Then, cut the pattern, lay it on the fabric, pin and cut ... then sewing the pieces together, use a medium Stich simple first time you do not want to get all the tissue crushed because a crochet! It takes a little practice and patience, but it is worth trying! Star with skirts and simple dresses, such as jumpers and after you feel confident to go sleeveless tops .... I find sleeves the hardest part of sewing. I used to write letters to know which side goes with which side it is very easy to make mistakes and endup a crazy thing! If you love all the sewing and design, you can go to school and learn a designer how to make your own patterns and designs. Good luck!
