i'm knitting on circular knitting needles and apparently i bought the wrong cord length and...?
so i'm knitting on circular knitting needles and apparently i bought the wrong sized cord length but the correct needle length .. i usually use straight needles and this is my first time making a scarf so i thought i'd use circular needles. the brim of the hat and the knitting looks beautiful i don't have any holes or anything and i've been knitting for a few hours now and i'd hate to take out all my knitting because of this problem but i'm worried that there is no way to fix it, and if that's the case the hat will probably be too big. i'm using size ten boye needles with a 29" cord length i'm guessing it would have been better to use a 16".. i could really use some help here. thanks!
If you're knitting flat (back & forth) on circular needles, the cord length doesn't matter. In fact, longer circs are perfect for knitting scarves lengthwise, since they can accommodate lots & lots of stitches:

But if you're knitting in the round (a tube, like a sleeve or seamless hat), the circular needle must be shorter around than whatever you're knitting. (Unless you know something called the magic loop or are using 2 circs. But those are advanced techniques.)
And once you're doing the decreases at the top of the hat, you'll need to switch to double-pointed needles. (You can even knit the entire hat on DPNs.)
