Scarf, Mittens, Hats, and Sock business.?
okay so i am thinking about starting a small, local business and all the stuff will be hand made one by one by me. Well I was wondering what would be a good price for those things? I get what color, size, and patterns they pick. Thank you! I really need some help with this.

That sounds very good. First, if you plan on making lots of them, you need to find the lowest price for yard, perhaps buying it by the cases at wholesale prices. You may need a business license or permit to qualify for wholesale purchase. If you try using yarn purchased at retail, it will be too expensive to sell for a profit.
Then once you get a good price for your materials, then you must figure out how long it takes you to make a pair of gloves or a hat. What is your time worth per hour? Then figure out how much you have into each piece. Can you knock out a single hat in say 15 minutes? 30 minutes? If you want to be paid $10/hour, that means if it takes you 30 minutes, the host would need to be sold for $5.00 to cover your labor. Then figure out how much a skein of yarn costs - how much goes into a single hat. Add that cost to the $5.00. Then don't forget to double it so you have a real profit that will allow you to purchase more material. Any other costs that need to be considered? Are you going to advertise? will you make them to order or will you have to store them as stock until someone buys them? How will you sell them? Spending money driving around to local stores tryiing to market your product will take time and gas money, wear and tear on your vehicle. Posters, postage for mailings, telephone calls, etc. all time and fees - don't forget to add them too. Will you need helpers - they will need a wage too as your business grows. Advertising can be the most costly thing, but necessary - otherwise no one will know you have something to sell. Good Luck.
