Where can I buy a length of low tension spring approx 1m x 4mm D?
I want to replace a worn out part on an old knitting machine. It is a length of tension spring used to keep the needles in place.
I need a length of approx 1 metre, the diameter of the coil is 3.5 or 4 mm D and the wire is fine gauge the whole thing is flexible with an open ended hook each end.
If I cannot find an online supplier what sort of outlet could I try.
That is long spring.
I think what you want is an "extention spring "(google that) to see if i am right.
If you find one longer you can just cut it off and bend the loop at the end yourself.
Google "indusrial springs" to see manufactures. You can contact them and ask for one. But first know what type spring you want and
the space between the coils, no space is "zero"
you might also find it at " Grainger " it is a large hardware supplier.
EDIT , also google "diamond wire spring company " you can get any lenght you want .
