Is it easier to learn how to work with double pointed needles when knitting or use 3 or 4 needles at time? ?
I'm trying to make socks for the first time and one pattern calls for using double pointed needles and the other using 3 & 4 needles at a time. Any ideas where i can learn to do one of these?
I just taught myself how to knit on double pointed needles in September by looking on the net!
You cast on the desired amount of stitches. Then divide them into 3 needles. I also put a different amount on my "start" needle so I know where the beginning is. So if I have 30 stitches, I may divide by 10, 9 and 11 with 9 being on my start needle. You can also use a knitting marker too.
Once you have casted on, you take the fourth needle and begin to knit. Since you are "knitting in the round" you will see the knit side of the stitches and the purl (the side with the bumps) will be on the inside. (If your knitting doesn't look like this, you are going in the wrong direction or holding the needles improperly. I did this my first time!)

If you are still stuck, check out YouTube because there are a lot there. I would take some practice yarn and work that first so that you have the technique down before you begin your socks. It takes a bit to get used to having 3 needles, but it's really not that bad.
