Is this a good idea to do at a anime convention?
Well, I have a really really hard time approaching strangers or people in general, and of course, this isn't very useful when trying to make new friends, and meet new people. Well, I am into anime(as can be seen from the title) and I have gone to quite a few conventions. I am going to one next year, and I am hoping to meet new people. So my friend has come up with an idea for me to try at the next con that i go to. Well I am pretty good at making amigurumi( crocheted stuffed animals) and my friend recommended making a whole bunch of amigurumi's and passing them out at random to different people just for free. Does this sound effective at all at overcoming my fear?and would this be ok/allowed at a anime convention?
Depends on con rules. I know you can't sell anything without a permit at conventions, but giving stuff away varies from convention to convention. Check the rules first.
I think it would help alleviate your fears more if you tried to start a conversation with each and every person you approached as you gave them away instead of handing them out willy-nilly. But yes, it would help because it would give you a reason to approach them and they would be more likely to stick around and chat upon having received a gift.
