Every time I wash my clothes, the washer leaves these really tiny balls of fabric on certain close. Why?
Anyone know why this is?
They're little crumb size balls of fabric (cotton), and I just sit in class picking them off because it leaves it all over my shirts, and sweaters. My washer didn't use to do this, or at least I don't remember it doing it.
Pilling (those teeny balls that you find on your sweaters and shirts) is caused by the friction of the fabrics rubbing up against each other in the washer and dryer. I don't think there's any way to prevent it 100%, but washing your clothes separately from towels and fuzzy/furry things helps. There's even a product called something like Defuzzit (?) that is a little comb with a razor blade in the part your hand doesn't touch that "shaves" sweaters. I think you could carefully shave your sweaters yourself with a regular razor. Why not? BTW, I notice another poster called it "piling." It *is* "pilling," but I had to ignore my spell-checker which wanted to change it to "piling!"
