Knitting a baby blanket with circular needles?
I'm knitting a large project for the first time. It will be a baby blanket, finished size 30 x 38 in. (76 x 96.5 cm)
The pattern calls for:
circular knitting needle size 7 (4.5 mm), 29 in. (73.5 cm) long.
circular knitting needle size 8 (5 mm), 29 in. (73.5 cm) long.
And the instructions are simply:
With larger needle, cast on 119 sts. Work in St st (k on RS, p on WS) for 202 rows. Bind off.
So... the smaller circular needle is what I use to knit with right? And why does it have to be 2 different sizes of circular needles?

Miz T - It is the Ducky Baby Afghan! Thanks for the extra info - there was a comment from another knitter that it was not as easy as she thought (probably due to the missing info).
What got me stumped was how to knit straight on circulars. I've only even knitted in the round on circulars.
If that is all that is in the instructions forget spending your hard earned money on the size 7. If there is more to it let me know and I will try to help you figure it out if you contact me.
