Which machine embroidery / sewing do you recommend?

I have been sewing for about 5 months now. I made clothes for my daughter (just shirts, skirts). I wish I had a machine that has a Gathering on it but I do not know what to look for. I would also begin to sting with it. I tried it on mine, but my machine could not handle it. Finally, I want to put a monogram or drawings on my business, if possible with other criteria. I shopped online, but I can not tell what to buy. I am not afraid to spend money, but I do not want to lose either more.

Some "regulars" are sewing machines with small alphabets that can be used for small monograms, but you are free motion embroidery or talk (which can be done on any machine) or an embroidery machine for large monograms. Most people I know who do embroidery machine computerized prefer to have two machines - one seam only, an embroidery only. In this way, they can sew while embroider, and configuration of both machines is simplified. (If you are interested in free motion embroidery, ask your library for Tony Fanning Book the complete machine embroidery and / or Nelson Creative Machine Stitching and Robbie ruffling feet are available for most modern machines. Attachments are ruffling available for older machines. I prefer to use a serger for flying ... I'm faster and easier and more uniform. Regarding machinery Sewing, compare a good brand. Please go to the best machine dealers around and ask them to show you some machines in your price range, * especially * used machines you can afford. You will get a far better machine buying used than new, and a good dealer is worth their weight in sewing machine needles when you have a machine problem - often they can talk you into the problem by phone. If you try things, try a couple of machines (sewing, not sewing embroidery combo) on your price limit, so you can see what the difference in stitch quality and ease of use might be. You may want to go for the Cadillac used. Or you may want the new basic Chevy. so try both.
