What is the thickest yarn I can use in my knitting machine?
I have a Brother knitting machine, model KH-830, and I would like to know what the thickest yarn I can use in the machine is.
I understand that hand-knitting is suited to knitting with the heavier yarns, but I have very large segments to create, and would really like to be able to save time by using the machine. As such, I would also like to hear any tips you may have for using chunkies, if any. I have read up on some such as threading every other needle etc, but would like to hear other opinions or methods, including recommended tensions!

The KH-830 is a standard-gauge knitting machine. The needles are 4.5 mm apart. The heaviest yarn you could use would be a DK-weight yarn or light worsted, and you'd need to use every other needle.
Keep in mind, the needles are sized for the 4.5 mm pitch, so they are smaller than the needles on the so-called "bulky" or 9 mm-pitch machines. You will need to take extra care when knitting with the large yarn.
